Hiring runs on Greenhouse. Background screening usually doesn't. A candidate reaches offer stage, and someone logs into a separate portal, re-keys the details, then chases the finished report and saves it back to the candidate by hand. The Veremark Greenhouse integration closes that gap: order checks as an interview stage, track them on the candidate, and the report comes back into Greenhouse on its own.

This article covers how the integration works, what your team does day to day, the two pieces that make it up, and how to switch it on.

What is the Veremark Greenhouse integration?

It's a native Greenhouse integration with two complementary parts. The assessment stage lets recruiters order and track Veremark checks from inside a job's interview plan. The Reports sync uploads the completed report PDF onto the matching candidate automatically. You can use either on its own, or both together.

Two things make it different from a manual screening process. First, recruiters never leave Greenhouse to order or track a check. Second, the finished report comes back into Greenhouse by itself, both as a link in the Interview Kit and as a PDF attached to the candidate.

How do background checks work inside Greenhouse?

The flow has three stages, all on the candidate your team already works in.

Order as a stage. Add a Veremark stage to the job's interview plan. When a candidate reaches it, Greenhouse shows a Send test link that sends the Veremark check. There's no re-keying and no second login. The assessment is set up once in Veremark and chosen when you configure the stage.

Track in Greenhouse. As Veremark runs the checks, the status shows on the candidate's record, alongside the rest of the interview plan. Your team follows progress without opening another system.

Report on the candidate. When the check completes, the Interview Kit links to the full report in Veremark, and the completed report PDF is uploaded automatically onto the matching candidate (matched by email) through Greenhouse's Harvest API.

What changes for your hiring team

The difference is the handoffs that disappear.

Without the integration, screening lives in a separate tool. Details get re-keyed, the report gets chased, and it often never makes it back onto the candidate. With the integration, the check is ordered in Greenhouse and the report returns to Greenhouse, linked in the Interview Kit and attached to the candidate.

Which background checks can you run?

Any assessment you configure in Veremark: identity, right to work, criminal record, employment history, education, references, adverse financial history, global criminal and more, across jurisdictions. You choose the assessment when you set up the Veremark stage, so screening stays consistent across recruiters and roles.

How is the integration built and secured?

The integration uses Greenhouse's standard APIs. The assessment stage runs through Greenhouse's partner integration; the Reports sync uses the Harvest API to upload the report PDF onto the matching candidate. Access is scoped, and reports are matched to the candidate by email. Veremark is ISO 27001 certified and PBSA accredited, and the candidate journey is fully digital with explicit consent capture.

How do you switch it on?

It's self-serve, with no engineering.

For the Reports sync, connect with OAuth in Veremark settings and completed report PDFs start flowing onto the matching candidate. For the assessment stage, get your API key in Veremark, share it securely with Greenhouse Support, then add the Veremark stage to a job's interview plan and choose the assessment. The two pieces are independent, so you can start with one and add the other later.

Beyond the point of hire

A check at hire tells you who someone was on day one. Veremark keeps that record current with re-screening and continuous monitoring on the same platform, connected to the original check. The Greenhouse integration is the entry point to a screening programme that doesn't stop at the offer.
