Ensure a reliable workforce with our Singapore MOM's education verification check.
Are you up to date with changes to the Singapore MOM Education Verification Check?
Singapore’s Ministry of Manpower (MOM) has strict rules for all Singapore-based businesses looking to hire workers from overseas.
The requirements are in response to an increase in diploma fraud where a small percentage of foreign workers are obtaining employment in the country by presenting bogus education certificates.
To ensure businesses employ the best talent, MOM has partnered with Veremark to help organizations verify their candidate’s credentials before hiring.
In Singapore, it is now mandatory for both employees and employers to provide verification proof during the Employment Pass application for new joiners. If their qualifications are from institutions not listed on the MOM (Ministry of Manpower) site, they are now required to get accreditation done on the establishment where their education credentials were achieved.
The verification process ensures the authenticity and accreditation of the qualifications. This requirement applies to all foreign nationals planning to work in Singapore, as they must obtain a valid Employment Pass (also known as a work visa) before commencing their employment in the country.
From 1st September 2023, workers will be required to pass a two-stage eligibility process:
- Be earning the EP qualifying salary
- Pass the COMPASS: a new points-based Complementarity Assessment Framework
Use MOM's self-assessment tool here to see if you pass the new framework.

With Veremark, we provide two services with the MOM check:
Education checks
- Verification of attendance, periods of enrollment, degree or diploma conferred, and graduation date.
- All verifications are conducted through the institution's Registrar and/or Administrator.
Institution accreditation checks
- Ensure that the institution under review holds accreditation from a recognized accreditation body before proceeding with the education check.
- Verification that the institution is a genuine and authorized provider of the degree program, safeguarding against potential diploma or degree mills disguising themselves as legitimate educational institutions.
